Question:
We saved and stored my son’s stem cells after birth. I know there are a lot of possibilities in using stem cells to treat certain cancer and other diseases. In the future is there any possibility that it could be used to treat hair loss?

Answer:
Yes, it is possible in the future that stem cells will be used in the field of hair restoration. Currently there are no actual treatments or known proven treatments to use stem cells in the hair restoration procedure.

Stem cells collected at birth are somewhat limited and most likely a patient would not be in the position to need stem cells for hair loss until they were an adult or sometime later in life.

It would be questionable if there were enough stem cells retrieved during the birth and from the umbilical cord that it may be necessary to do an additional stem cell retrieval either with adipose tissue and/or a blood draw.
