Question:
Is hair loss always progressive or does it ever stop on its own?

Answer:
Hair loss can be progressive but at some point it will stop falling out on its own. The amount and length of time that the hair loss occurs varies in each individual patient and is really based upon their genetics.

Patients can have genetic hair loss from either side of the family and/or both sides being some type of combination.

The only way to really determine when a patient has stopped losing hair would be to have a several year period of time go by where no additional hair loss has occurred and the patient was at an age where hair loss commonly stops. Otherwise there is no way to determine exactly when a patient will stop losing hair if this is genetic in nature.
